Home tea party, a birthday party

A friend I had not seen in over 10 years reached out to see if I would do a birthday tea for her mom.  I said absolutely!!!

Her mom doesn't do caffeine, so we made it a caffeine free tea.  I gathered some fun teas that had no caffeine and started prepping.

Herbal teas have no caffeine, because they are herbs and there is no actual tea in it.
Rooibos teas have no caffeine either.
Then you can also get black, green, oolong, white, yellow, and others as decaf teas.

I like to type out what is in every tea, so that if there are allergies people know what is in the tea.  Also, since I don't sell the tea people can know where the tea is from.

Oolong is my favorite, so I love serving it.
So, I found a decaf to try out before the party, PurelyNative.  I wanted to have one real tea, since all the others were herbal or rooibos. I decided it was a winner and would serve it.

You can see that the leaves open up when the water is added.  They call this the agony of the leaves.  They dance in agony in the water.

I put my fun tea pins on for this tea.

I also worked on my Butterfly Pea tea...Purple Palmer.
It is somewhat green in color if you had a little bit of Butterfly Pea Blossoms, then if you add more it gets blue in color.
Then once you add citrus (lemonade) to the tea is turns purple.

For this caffeine free blend, I did spearmint, lavender, butterfly pea blossom, and mixed it with lemonade.

This tea is always a big hit.  I then also took blueberry bursting boba as a treat for them as well.

I arrived at the house about 30 minutes before the tea was to start to get set up and start making the teas.

This is my friend, who I met when I was selling Thirty One bags.

Their table looked great.  This was a tea for the mom, her three daughters, and three granddaughters.  They used family tea cups which is really special!

They each brought food- which is a nice way to do it, so not just one person is responsible for it all.  They had scones, lemon bars, chicken salad croissants, eclairs, cucumber sandwiches and more.

I would serve a tea and then we would talk about it.  Talk about the notes they were tasting.  I shared tea stories and told them facts about each tea.

It is funny how we all have unique taste buds.  One of the favorites of the day, is one of my least favorites.  But, you never know what people are going to like or enjoy.  I was glad I brought a variety.  And it is nice that they were willing to try them all...because you never know what you will enjoy.

How adorable is the birthday girl???

Mothers and daughters enjoying tea.....

I just love seeing people coming together to enjoy tea and each other.

Let me know if you want to have a tea at your home.  I do charge .60 a mile, but the first 5 miles are free.

For educational teas for groups over 20 people I charge $8 a person.
Over 50- $7 a person and over 100 - $6 a person.

Bubble Fresh- Bubble Tea and Poke Bowl, Wooster OH

My dad treated my mom and I for an early Valentines Lunch the other day.  We decided to try a Poke Bowl place in Wooster, which was a new experience for all of us.
AND WE LOVED IT!!

We picked our base-  Options were white rice, brown rice, sushi rice or salad.
Then we picked our protein- there are raw and cooked options.  They included- Salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, chicken, spicy chicken, shrimp, crab meat, squid salad, spicy crab meat, tofu, and eel.

Then you were able to select 5 veggie choices.

Then there were sauce choices to make, as well as toppings.

If you are unsure or this is your first time, I would recommend looking at the menu ahead of time or do what my dad did, and pick one of the signature bowls.  With a signature bowl you do not have to make any selections, lol.

We were all THRILLED with our choices.  The food was really fresh and delicious!

Then if you want a specialty drink, you have so many incredible choices.

There are so many tea varieties, it can be over whelming.  But, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the combinations.

I have to say I was not familiar with foam tea...and what I found out is that it has CHEESE in it!!  Now, I am not positive that is what is in this foam tea in Wooster, but you may want to ask.
This layer of milk foam is usually made of milk foam powder, cream cheese, fresh milk, lactose, sea salt, cheese, etc.

With the cloud tea, I found lots of differ things on line as to what cloud tea is.  But, I believe it has the the frothed milk in it to make the cloud on top and through out the drink.

Milk Tea is typically milk with black tea, I believe their classic milk tea is milk with black, green, or oolong.

The flavored milk tea- I am not sure of the base tea.  But it is super delicious.  I got the coconut milk tea.

My mom got the blue cloud with blueberry bursting boba.  I ordered the coconut milk tea with brown sugar boba.

We are fans!!!  The staff was super friendly.  The restaurant was clean and tidy.  The food was really excellent and and we loved our teas!
My drink was so flavorful!  It was not a fake coconut flavor, but tasted like I was drinking coconut!!  I am not always a fan of the boba, but I did like the brown sugar mixed in with the milk tea.

I really recommend you try Bubble Fresh if you are in the Wooster area.

Blue Sky Cafe, Chai, Berlin OH

I had a Saturday off so I headed to Berlin.   Little did I know I would see a man on a bull in a parking lot.  He was riding this bull like a horse.  Just mosing through the town like it was everyday occurrence.

I had heard about the Atlee house from a friend at church.  This spot had once been where her childhood home was located.  Also, my sisters, sister in law had recommended it. They just opened in 2023, it was formerly the location of the Pomerene House.  This place is right downtown Berlin.  They ARE closed Mondays.

It is super cute.  The upper level has rooms with balconies that each have a hot tub.  The lower level is a spa.  And the middle level has a boutique shop and cafe and two more suites.  The cafe, Blue Sky Cafe is what I had come too.

I do love the idea of 4 businesses in one location like this.  I have often said I wasn't sure I could make a go at first as a tea room.  But, if I had other businesses or retail space it would help- you split utilities, rent, insurance, etc.

It was lunch time so I wanted to try some of their food and of course get a drink.

The sandwiches looked delicious, but they did not have gluten free bread.  However, I was told I could make any sandwich into a bowl!!  Better yet!!  I would get some eggs and the goodies and no bread.  I am sucker for a build your own bowl kind of meal too.

There is seating in the front of the cafe, in the back and outside.

Outside seating even has these great swings!  Right beside the cafe is the boutique.  They have shared space.

After exploring for a bit my food was ready.  It was sooooo good.  And what made it over the top for me was the Maple Sauce.  I could have drank that stuff!!!

My bowl was eggs, potatoes, sausage, avocado, and Swiss cheese with that amazing maple sauce (It was basically the Berliner Sandwich with avocado added)

I also ordered a chai and a macaroon.  Both were delicious.
I will give this chai five teacups out of five.
It was sweet but not too sweet.  The spices were really nice too.  The prices are good for their drinks, I appreciate then a large is not over $5.  The staff was super friendly and helpful and the place was really clean and tidy.  I will definitely be back.

Very pleased with Blue Sky Cafe- their food and the chai.
