NUMI SAVORY TEA Tomato Mint

My sister gave me some teas to try.   I am not sure about a savory tea.  I think it might be better for marinating chicken in than drinking, but I am dying to give it a try and be proved wrong about what I think.  I think maybe it will taste like a soup.  I also am nervous to try it!  She gave me other interesting flavors too....Spinach Chive, Carrot Curry, Broccoli Cilantro, Beet Cabbage, and Fennel Spice

I steeped the black tea for 3 minutes, the smell is great!  Not a normal tea smell, more of a soup smell.  The color is beautiful looks more like an herb tea than a  black tea.  okay, here I go....I am going to take a sip...
I mainly taste spiciness, it's like hot water and spice, almost like an oregano.  Very odd, I do not know I would drink it again.  It would be nice for a marinade.

This bright Mediterranean infusion is reminiscent of the sweet savory scent of stuffed grape leaves (dolmas). The combination of ripe tomatoes, mint leaves, decaf black tea, a touch of cinnamon and lemon peel makes for a zesty, mouthwatering cup.
from the website:

We named our company Numi after the Middle Eastern dried lime teasan that we drank as children in Iraq. Traditionally harvested and dried in the hot desert sun, this rare dried lime is steeped in hot water and has been enjoyed as a tea for centuries (Numi in Arabic means citrus). Numi has a distinct, tart citrus flavor and is an oasis of health.

While the tea inspired both the creation and naming of our company, we have come across several iterations and meanings from around the world for these resonant two syllables
Numi inspires well-being of mind, body and spirit through the simple art of tea. Our company is rooted in the principle of creating a healthful product that nurtures people and honors the planet. With all of our company initiatives, we strive to foster a healthy, thriving global community while bringing you the purest, best-tasting organic tea.

Our teas are made using premium quality, hand-picked organic and fair trade teas and herbs, blended with only real fruits, flowers and spices. Nothing else. We offer a range of Green, Black, White and Pu·erh teas as well as Herbal Teasans in tea bags.

MIGHTY LEAF- Earl Grey and Mint Melange

I got some fun teas from my friends, Charlie and Robin!  Robin shared some Mighty Leaf Mint Melange with me.  Charlie shared Mighty Leaf Earl Grey.  The teas were both so good that I ordered some Mighty Leaf tea samplers to try some different ones.

Organic Mint Melange herbal tea renews and refreshes with the finest mint leaves from the lush Middle Atlas Mountain range in Morocco. A well-rounded herbal infusion with sweet lingering notes, Organic Mint Melange captures the cool and pure essence of mint.
Ingredients -Organic mint from Morocco

Preparing the perfect cup of tea is a process to be savored. Watch how the traditional elements harmoniously come together to make the perfect cup and enjoy the liberation of pure tea goodness.

This is what we call the Mighty Leaf signature multi-sensory ("sensory melange") tea experience. Come share with us and learn how to get infused.

Water
The quality of tea is affected by the quality of water used to prepare it. Using filtered or bottled water is best. If possible, avoid brewing tea with tap, distilled or mineral water. Never over-boil water, as it results in flat-tasting tea.

Fire
1) Heat filtered or bottled water to a rolling boil or to 205 F. 2) While the water is heating pour hot water into your teapot and cups, let sit and then drain completely. A warm teapot will maintain the requisite temperature for superior tasting tea.

Whole Leaf Tea
Prepare Mighty Leaf teas using a teapot, paper tea sachet, infuser or traditional brewing methods. Use one rounded tablespoon of loose herbs and fruit per 12 ounces or cup of water.

Infusion Time
Pour boiling water over tea leaves. Keep teapot covered to retain heat. Time steeping carefully and infuse for 5 - 7 minutes.

Savor the Leaf
Sip your cup and rediscover the pleasure of the way tea was naturally meant to be. This is the magic of Mighty Leaf.

I liked the Earl Grey with this vanilla soy milk.  It was good, it was strong- not in a bitter way, just strong as in a deep rich flavor.

TEAVANA Berry Basil Blast

One of my favorite teas from Teavana is Berry Basil Blast.  What an odd combination of flavors, but yet it blends so well.   It's light and springy.  I can taste the hint of basil with the citrus.  It is great!!! It's a little pricey at $12.00 for 2 oz, but it is fun splurge.

DUCK DYNASTY- Si's Tea Cup

HERE IS MY POST #200!!!  I am paying tribute to one of my favorite tea drinkers...Uncle Si
I walked into the break room at work this week and smiled when I saw this cup on the counter.   My favorite show is DUCK DYNASTY...and if you have ever seen this show, you know that this cup looks like the one Uncle Si always has with him.
Are you familiar with Duck Dynasty?  The show is a riot.  But, what I really like about the Robertson Family is their love for the Lord.  They make no apologies for the way they live their lives.  And I love it!
I can not wait for Season 4 to start (August 14, 2013).  I am thinking about having a Duck Dynasty party the night of the season premier.  I will ask people to dress in camouflage. We could serve duck and maybe I will make tea and serve them in cups like Si's.  People can keep their cups of souvenirs of the evening!!

Here is Uncle Si and his tea cup

Here I was snapping photos, being all excited as if it were really Uncle Si's cup.  Can you imagine how excited I would be if it were really Si's tea cup?!  Maybe in my tea shop I should sell Uncle Si's tea cups :)

Burger King Tea and time with nephews

Last Friday I spent the evening with 2 of my 3 favorite guys ( I was missing my nephew JOSH!)

My nephews Ryan and Kyle and I went to Burger King for dinner.  The boys are so cute, they love to point out when eating out when a place has tea.  We walked in and they both told me that I should try the Burger King tea...so I did.  It was a peach ice tea.  I thought it was really very good.  I still would put McDonald's first, you also can not beat the $1.00 price tag at  McDonalds's !

Then after Burger King we went to Pat Catans,  Oh Yo's, and then home to play.  The boys wanted to spray paint, since they never had done it before.  So, I let them practice on my trash cans.

GOOD EARTH Chai Tea Vanilla

Good Earth® Vanilla Chai Tea Delicious spices with deep vanilla create a soft and smooth, sweet and gentle tea. The spices provide the initial flavor sensation while the vanilla follows with a sweet velvety taste. Enjoy with milk for the true taste of India.

Isn't funny how everyone has different taste buds?  I love it when my four and half year old nephew, Kyle, reminds me of this!  Well, here is another example of this.  Work bought some teas for the break room.  One was Good Earth Chai Tea Vanilla.  I have liked Good Earth in the past so I was excited to try this flavor.  My friend Melanie, who I work, with really liked it.  What did I think????  I did not like it.  I thought it had a perfume taste. So, this is one Good Earth tea that I will avoid in the future.  I even tried it with milk and it was still no good.
