We enjoyed another private tour day. We hired two black taxi's to take us to Bath, England.
We broke into two groups and headed out.
The cars were very comfy and our guides were great at pointing out sites we passed.
One of the gals said she'd like to see Stonehenge. I called the drivers to see if we could take a route that would take us by Stonehenge. They worked it out and said we could. They picked us up about an early to make it happen. What a great tour company!

For us, it was not worth a stop, but it was nice to at least past it and see it, even if from a car.
It was a little over 2 hour drive, but we arrived at the Jane Austin Regency Center. I was so excited. "Mr. Bennet" greeted us outside. He was a hoot.
There is a permanent statue of Jane Austin out front of the center.
Jane never lived at this home, but she did live on this street.
We were at 40 Gay Street, but Jane lived a few months at 25 Gay Street.
I love how everyone was dressed in period clothes. I was super glad I wore the dress and accessories I did.
You could order off the menu, but we had ordered the Afternoon Tea with Mr Darcy.
I was sitting across from Mr Darcy, but one of the gals was kind enough to switch seats with me, so I could have him over my shoulder for photos, lol. I was so thrilled. Pride and Prejudice is one of my all time favorite movies.
The Colin Firth version from the BBC in 1995 is my favorite of all the ones I've seen. And I have seen a lot of versions, lol.

Our bread and scones are freshly baked and delivered each morning from a local bakery.
My first pot of tea was the Earl Grey. It was over steeped and I was not impressed. I then went with the Jane Austen blend and I enjoyed that a lot more.
Jane Austen Blend-A light blend of China Black teas, popular in regency times.
The decor in the room was fun. I enjoyed just taking it all in.
I really wanted to love this afternoon, but sadly this was one of my least favorites. I had to remind myself it was also the most inexpensive ones, so I should not be comparing an £85 tea to a £29.50 tea.
Our group.
The sandwiches were very tasty, I did enjoy them.
The scones were good.
I am not sure if I am Devonshire or Cornish follower.
Devonshire is clotted cream first then jam
Cornish is jam on the scone and then clotted cream.
I think I lean towards being a Devonshire believer.
It was the desserts that failed for me. The macaron was so hard, none of us were able to finish them. I was very disappointed, I love macarons. The chocolate dessert was very chocolatey and I didn't really care for it. I did like the meringue.
Overall, I would give the afternoon tea experience a three.
Starting with the tea, I was hate when tea is left in the pot, it makes the tea over steeped and super bitter...even milk cannot help with that. I did try to scoop out the tea leaves from the pot, but it was already ruined. Then the dessert were a fail for me.
But the whole experience was soooo worth it! I loved being Bath, being out of the busy city. Being the city that Jane Austen loved. It was a quaint, charming city.

Here’s my fun story for today. While in Bath having tea at Jane Austen Regency Center I gave a spunky Elizabeth Bennett a fun Pride and Prejudice pin.
I had bought pins to give all the gals on the tour, and I had 2 left.
I was looking for a restroom and I met two lovely ladies. It was Ms. Bennett who said she loved my outfit but then mocked my croc shoes as not being era fitting, lol. I loved the spunk and bantering with her. She did say, at least they were floral. And when we were joking around, I had no idea that she was Lizzie Bennett...so giving her a Pride and Prejudice pin was very fitting.
On my way out of the center, I saw one of the gals I had been talking to. I gave her a pin and then asked her to give the other pin to the other gal who was teasing me about my shoes.
At the checkout counter, it was Ms Bennett who waited on me. I there learned she was Lizzie.
She was excited to be given the pin because she said she had the pin and it had broken, so she was really pleased to get another one.
She then proceeded to give me a pin!! She said one good deed deserves another…plus she said that they give the pin to those on their birthdays- she said Happy Birthday!
Here are our fun drivers.
We then walked around the city for an hour or so. Our drivers were the tour guides, pointing out items and telling us some of the Bath history.
This is also Jane Austins 250th birthday year.
This made me chuckle...
This was posted right above a trash can.
