I had a Wednesday off and my friends invited me to this event that they were going to in Millersburg.
I was super excited to show up and see Natural Hope Herbals was there. I love one of their teas, Moringa Mint.
The Moringa Mint tea is one of absolute favorite teas...even though it has one of my least favorite ingredients in it. It is true!!
I hate chamomile, but I don't even taste it in this tea. So, it is nice I get the benefits of chamomile without the taste of it, lol.
I enjoyed meeting and joking around with the guys at the booth.
I love this Moringa Mint tea, I think I have gone through 4 tins and 3 bags of this tea in just a year. It is some of my customers favorite tea too. Even my parents wanted to know where I got it, I gave my mom a bag for Mother's Day this year.
I first learned about Moringa while on a mission trip to Africa. I was amazed about all the wonderful healing properties it has. It has antibiotic properties good for treating stomach ailments, it is good for detoxing, I know some friends who dried it and put it like a powder on their food. The leaves can be eaten in salads and on sandwiches. It is rich in protein and helps cholesterol. It helps glucose levels and with lowering your blood pressure. It also has lots of vitamins- like A,B,C,D, and E. I also have a moringa oil I use on my skin as a lotion of sorts.
My fun purchases from the event on Wednesday:
Here is my recipe for Butterfly Pea Tea...
For a gallon of tea
7-8 t. of Moringa Mint
2 -3 t Butterfly Pea Tea
1/3 C Sugar
2 Lemons for zesting and squeezing
Butterfly Pea Blossoms
Moringa Mint
Organic Green Tea, Organic Spearmint leaf, Organic Chamomile blossom, Organic Moringa leaf, Organic Lavender buds.
I have tried several mint teas for the base of my tea, but this is my new favorite way to make the Butterfly Pea Tea. This mix of lavender and spearmint is so good! I just love this blend. It is almost perfect!
Because of the green tea- I heat the water to about 170-175 degrees.
I don't want to bruise the leaves or get a bitter taste.
I do a teaspoon of tea per 8 oz of water. For a gallon of tea, I add 7-8 scoops of tea.
I only steep the tea for 10 minutes, otherwise it will get too bitter.
The water temperature and steep time really are SUPER important to the taste of the tea!
If you have the water too hot or steep too long your tea will NOT be good.
I am not a fan of super sweet tea, so I only add a 1/3 C of sugar for a gallon of tea.
I zest some of the lemon right into the pitcher as well.
I then squeeze fresh lemon into the tea. Once I do this the tea turns a beautiful purple color.
Butterfly pea tea is so unique- anytime you add citrus to it, it turns from a blue color to purple.
I have tried adding oranges or limes to the tea and it is good too. You can also use pre-made lemonades or limeades, It is like a fancy Arnold Palmer.
Or in this case it would be an Annie Palmer.
Annie Palmer is when you mix green tea with lemonade.
Before citrus is added....
after citrus is added....
