Super excited to get into Ohio Tea Company today!!!
I picked up two Rooibos teas....okay before you say, but you wait you don’t like Rooibos teas, I learned something today. There is green Rooibos and red Rooibos. And when I told Kurt I like Winter Wonderland Rooibos but not other Rooibos- he said maybe I liked green and not red Rooibos. I had no idea that there were two kinds of Rooibos. (Never too old to learn) So I got my free 1/2 of Dragonfly green Rooibos and then tried Bonita green Rooibos. He said Bonita is new and good iced! I let you know if it is a green vs red thing. Love Ohio Tea!!!!!💜☕️💜☕️💜💜
I did some checking and I learned that green rooibos has higher levels of antioxidants than red rooibos. Both of the rooibos teas come from a plant in the Cape Region of South Africa- the locals call it Bush Tea. Both are caffeine free. The difference between the two is in the processing. Red rooibos is oxidized (exposed to oxygen), green rooibos is not. Instead, green rooibos is dried (halted by steaming the leaves) soon after picking so that it doesn't oxidize when exposed. Red rooibos has a full-bodied flavor with caramel notes and steeps into an amber-hued cup. Green rooibos has a more delicate, herbal flavor and steeps into a light orange-yellow cup.
