Coconut Latte, trial and error

I have had just a few coconut lattes that I really like.  One of my all time favorites was in Vermilion Ohio. If I consider myself a tea connoisseur then I need to be able to make every tea I come across. Every time I try a coconut latte I like I ask them how they make it and what is in it.

I am working on trying to make a good tasting coconut latte.  I have coconut tea, coconut syrup, and oat milk.

My favorite kind of tea is coconut oolong.  I love this milky oolong from Tealyra.

I really like oat milk, but I buy what's on sale.  I even get coconut milk or soy milk.  Oat is my favorite, I love the rich, deep flavor of oak milk.

I am not a fan of sugar-free syrups.  I am a fan of this syrup.

I frothed the milk and added the coconut syrup to added additional flavor.

I made the tea, frothed the milk and added ice.

It was okay, but not fabulous.  I need to keep working. The coconut flavor is not as strong as I hoped.  I may use coconut milk next time and more syrup.   Don't be afraid to play around.  Trial and error is how you learn.  You may discover something brand new in the process.

I give myself a 3 out of 5.

Ohio Tea Company Raspberry Matcha Latte

In keeping with eating and drinking healthy I have been drinking more matcha.  I am not a fan of plain matcha tea.  But, I do really like them as lattes.  I typically use oat milk- it froths better and I like the deep, rich flavor that it adds to the latte.  But, I have also used soy milk, coconut milk, soy milk or almond milk.

Matcha is powdered green tea, and has been used in the Japanese tea ceremony for centuries and as such is normally associated with the beautifully complex, and rigid procedure.

Ingredients: Shade grown green tea (Samidori cultivar)

I take 8-10 oz of oat milk, pour in my frother and forth, adding a 1tsp of matcha, and top with ice.  It is super easy and very healthy.

Matcha possible benefits:

  • Promote Focus and Calm
  • Help Detoxify the Body
  • Boost Energy Levels
  • Increase Metabolism Speed
  • Increase Immunity

The green is beautiful.  The matcha has an earthiness to it, but once you get passed that it is good. Just keep telling yourself how good it is for you!

I give it 4 tea cups. The raspberry notes come through.  Matcha is healthy, but also pricey.  This is a good boost and I am learning to really like the flavor.

The Carpenter's Cup, London Fog

I am a HUGE fan of this adorable little cafe.  It's incredibly attractive from the outside.  Real flowers everywhere, it is just beautiful.

The have a really good London Fog latte here.  I love the flavor from the Harney and Sons tea that they use.  This drink used to be the Bent Nail drink...what a clever name.   I do notice that the prices have gone up about 60 cents since last time I was there.  But, who can blame them when items are getting harder to get and workers are fewer and fewer.  Everyone is raising prices.  Still a great tea and worth it.

They have indoor and outdoor seating.

It is just beautiful outside.

I am giving them 5 tea cups.  The tea is great, the service is great, the staff is super friendly, and I love the Christian music playing in the back ground.

But, you can make them at home cheaper and the way you like it.
You can get this 5 oz for $12.90, that gives you about 50 lattes.

Beet Powder-

I have been trying to loose weight and eat and drink healthier.  I have been adding beet powder to some foods and drinks.  I find you really can't taste the beets, but it does add a sweetness.

Their recipe:
Suggested Use for Vegan Tea Latte: Place 1/2 tsp of Golden Milk Turmeric Tea Latte into a blender; Add 1 tbsp of almond butter, 1 cup of water and 2 Medjool dates; Blend until smooth; Pour into a small saucepan, warm over medium heat and enjoy. Can be served cold or warm.

I make my lattes really simple.  I use oat milk or soy milk or almond milk to coconut milk- depends on what is on sale.  Although oat milk is my favorite- it is deep and rich in flavoring.
I put milk 8-10 oz oat milk in the frother, add 1 tsp golden turmeric, 1/4 tsp beet powder, and froth.  I don't add a sweetener since I am watching my weight, but you are welcome too.  I used to love maple syrup in mine.
My frother mixes, froths, and heats.  I add ice in mine in the summer to cool it off.  It is so delicious!!

I love the taste and color!!  I find playing with your tea is a great way to discover new drinks.  You never know when you will have a hit on your hands.  Don't be afraid to try new things.

This Golden Milk has great flavor. And I find I love the black pepper notes that come through.  The ginger comes through nicely too.
