Kong woh tong sdl. Bhd. Tea In Georgetown Penang

Ah, what to say about this tea experience!!!  My friend, Yeng, and I were setting out for an adventure in Penang.  We had the afternoon off.  I found two tea places we could visit one afternoon.  We took a Grab (a Grab is like the US Uber) and headed into Chinatown in Georgetown and Penang.
Both places were closed. So we decided to head to the mall and find a tea shop there.

China town in Malaysia

I loved that there were Grabs all over.  I would pay to go into Georgetown and then Yeng paid the trip back.  It worked perfectly.  Travel was super easy and I felt very safe!!!  All Grabs had AC and the drivers all spoke very good English.  Extra bonus is that Grabs were half the price of taxi's.

Another tea place...closed

Here we are at the Gurney Paragon Mall-

On the lower level of the mall was this tea shop where we could sit and drink tea

Very fun and interesting looking from the outside, it was calling me to come in.

I decided to try the 5 Flower Tea.  I knew nothing about this Chinese tea. But, Yeng did. She said that her parents drank tea like this when she was a kid. The taste was something else!!!  And not in a good way.

Five Flowers Tea (五花茶 ) The main floral ingredients are honeysuckle, chrysanthemum, silk cotton, Plumeria rubra and Pueraria lobata. This beverage can clear heat and expel dampness and anti-inflammation, which helps to alleviate symptoms like fatigue, sore throat, indigestion, poor appetite, insomnia and urinary difficulty.

Posing for a photo, a little nervous to try it.

I tried it and I have to say I hated it.   We had some good laughs about trying it.

It was way to bitter and super sweet, neither of us liked what we bought!  Yeng said that the bitterness and tree-tastes reminder of when she was a kid.

Yeng did teach me how to hold the cup.  Putting my pinky on the bottom of the cup.

Oh so bad tasting!!!!

Sure House Golden Milk

I decided to check out Sure House for a third time.  I was hoping my friend, Rachel, was working...and she was!!

I told her I wanted to try something new and different.  She suggested Golden Milk.  She said that they usually put honey in it, I said I wasn't a huge fan of honey, so she suggested maple syrup.  I said yes.

I have to say that I found my Sure House drink- Golden Milk.  I loved the chai like flavors with tumeric spice added.  The tumeric gives the tea yellow color and reminds me of Indian food.  If you are looking for something new to try give this tea a shot!!!  And I recommend the maple syrup being added too.

It's a great spring day- some would call it the perfect day!!!

Gamcheon Village South Korea flowering tea

My friend got me with flowering tea set, I love it!!

My friend, Yeng, and I have traveled all over together.  We have been to Thailand, Spain, Malaysia and Colorado.  This year we were meeting in Malaysia and she came from visiting family in South Korea.  When she was in South Korea she bought me this flowering tea set in this fun colorful town, Gamcheon.

I made the first tea with the marigolds.

I heated the water to 100 degrees, 3 flowers and steeped for 4 minutes.

It was tasty.  Not overly flowery and not earthy tasting.  It was different, and I liked it.

I love my adventures with Yeng!!!  We travel so well together.  We have done almost all the transportation's you can do together...airplanes, taxi's,car, Grab's, boats, tuk tuks, thai trucks, shuttle buses, and tour buses.  Yeng is the best.  We joke we want to start are own travel blog, traveling on a budget and having fun!
