The Grand Tea Room in Carrollton

I surprised my mom for her birthday with a trip to the Grand Tea Room in Carrollton.  She loves tea rooms and had never been to this one.  My dad, my mom, my aunt, and I headed down and had a great day!

I was here over the July 4th weekend, about 6 weeks ago and I was surprised the prices had gone up.  But, still the prices are great!!!!  My mom and I did tea for two and it was only $15 a piece- you aren't finding prices like this with food this delicious anywhere else near us!

I love that they know how to make a cup of tea!  They bring out the timer for each cup so that you can get the perfect cup of tea.  The tea is also in a tea ball, so that there is not loose leaf floating around in your teapot.  This is how you make a pot of tea!!!

I did the Chinese Jasmine.  It was great.  I loved the lightness of the tea and the lightness of the Jasmine.  This tea paired really well with my lunch.

This is our lunch for two.  So many yummy treats and great sandwiches.

I did the cucumber sandwich last time, but I didn't care for it.  I don't like cucumber in a croissant.  This time I did two chicken salads and an egg salad.  It is nice, they give you 5 sandwiches to select from- ham, chicken, egg, cucumber, or tuna.

The quiche was wonderful too, I did cheese and ham.  The scone was blueberry lemon and scrumptious.  They gave us strawberries and real whip cream and two cookies.

The Grand Tea room gets 5 teacups from me!!  The food is delicious, the prices are really reasonable, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the bathrooms are clean.

The cake they gave my mom for her birthday was gigantic.

We then drove a few miles away to surprise friends at their grocery store in Kilgore. If you are in the area you should stop by and snag some groceries from them.  And soon they hope to have pizza.  They are fantastic people and you never know they may have just want you need at their store.

Mocha House, Boardman OH with a London Fog

My friend and I were in the Boardman area and thought this would be a great place to try...and it was!

We loved the Mocha house!

The Mocha house was in this plaza and I wasn't sure what to expect, but the menu was fantastic.  There was so many delicious things to pick from.

I ordered the Mediterranean Skillet and the London Fog.  They were both wonderful.
Skillet had great flavors and was very filling.  It was a lot like eggs benedict with the hollandaise sauce.  I also loved that they had gluten free toast!
The tea was spot on for a London Fog.  It was delicious.

Mocha House gets 5 teacups out of 5!!  The food was delicious and reasonable.  The drinks were wonderful and the flavors were spot on.  The staff was super friendly and the restrooms were clean. I would absolutely recommend this place!!

Here are just some of the food and drink options.  There were a lot.  If I didn't live two hours away, I would be back to try lots more items.

The desserts looked incredible.  I was so tempted to buy a piece of a few things and try them, but I am being "good" with my eating habits again.

World's Largest Teapot and Teapot Days in Chester WV

It was Teapot Days in Chester WV.

My friend and I drove an hour and half to see the festivities.

I was excited to get a Fiesta teapot ornament.  I have seen the little teapots that Fiesta used to make and I wanted to get one.  But, alas, the ornament was not in the shape of tea pot- it was a round disk that said World's Largest Teapot, Teapot Days 2024.  They were $18 and the money was for the teapot, but I passed on that souvenir.

 photo from the newspaper

We got there right about 10am and I have to say I was expecting more.  I thought that maybe the street would be closed off and it would be a real town festival.  I was thinking 50-75 vendors.  Sadly, there were maybe 15 vendors.  And no one was selling tea.

We walked around, snapped our photos and spent about 10 minutes there and left.

Thankfully the drive was nice and we had fun making a memory, but were hoping for more.  I would love to snag some friends and be apart of it next year.   Sell my tea.  I have a friend who makes pies and she could see those.  I have a friend who makes pottery and she could come too.  It would be great if they could get some food trucks and really make this an event for the town.  I do want to see them succeed and make money to keep the teapot up and running.

They were selling hot dogs and lemonade from the teapot.  I was hoping for some tea, lol.

By the big teapot, they have this little teapot, pictured below.  I did spend $21 and buy the 3D teapot to show my support of the teapot, plus it is super cute.

I read in the newspaper there were crocheted teapots, but I never saw those.

Maybe I will go back next year.  And if I do, I hope they have someone selling tea, lol.

Tea bird house

I came in to the office the other day to find this fun gift on my desk.
My love language is gifts, so I felt very loved this day 💗💗💗🫖🍵🫖🍵

I opened it up to find an ADORABLE bird house made it out of a teapot and tea cup.

So creative, so beautiful and these are my colors!  I hope I get a bird to live in it.  It will fit perfectly in my garden.

I love how creative people are!!!  The friend that gave it to me says she has a post for it too.  For now it is along the fence and I am thoroughly enjoying it there!!

So special and fun.

Hand carved wooden Tea Set, gem of a find

My cousin sent me a text the other day about this great hand carved wooden tea set at the local second hand shop.

I went in and saw it, paid for it, and brought it home.  I love the detail on it.  I wish I knew who made it and where it was from.  But, there are no markings on it.

comes with 4 cups too

I'd never actually use it, but it is beautiful.
