Milk and Honey, Strawberry Mint Matcha and The Manna Food Truck

A fun Wednesday Wandering took my friend and I to Cleveland.  One of our first stops was to Milk and Honey just off Superior downtown.

The photo below is from 3136 W 14th St, Cleveland, OH 44109, near the vintage store, All Things for You.  It is 2 blocks from the Christmas Story House...which we also visited for a photo opp.

We drove right by the Cleveland Indians Stadium, which was fun to seem, and not more than 5 minutes from that was Milk and Honey.  It is also minutes from Play House Square.   It is right inside a commercial building, but faces out to a cute little park, Perk Plaza.

For being right downtown I thought the prices were pretty good.

The shop was clean and the staff was very friendly.  I was glad we got there a little before noon, because soon after we arrived and ordered our drinks the place was flooded with customers.

I ordered their summer special, Strawberry Mint Matcha.  It was really very good.  The matcha was not too sweet, as some can be.  I got hints of the mint with the strawberry, but it was not over powering.  It was a nice drink.  I would get it again.

I would recommend this place, I give it 5 tea cups.  There are not a lot of items on the menu but the what they do make they do well.  Both of us enjoyed our drinks.

And right out the door across the street were the food trucks.  There were 14 trucks wrapped around the little park (Perk Plaza) in the middle.  We walked around and checked them all out and decided to go with the first one we saw, Manna.

One of the things that drew me here was their declaration... I love their mission and what they do brings glory to God.

Lunch was $13, which for a food truck is about right.  And it was delicious!!!!  I could have eaten another serving or two of the Eggplant French Fries with the aioli dressing.  I have never had eggplant fries, but I want to find more and eat more, lol!

Apple Roses with tea

Apple Roses with tea
I saw this on line and I knew I wanted to recreate it.
I did some research and learned I needed a mandolin.
I cut the apple in half and sliced on the mandolin with the thinnest slicer.

Slice the apples, seeds and all.
Search and take out the seeds, after you slice the apples.

Stack the apples and cut in half.

My first few tries were EPIC fails.  I could not figure out how to roll the apples.
They just kept breaking on me....

I then did some research and learned I needed to soak the apples in warm water.  I put the apples in water and microwaved them for about 30 seconds.  I did not have lemon juice, but if I had lemons I would have added juice to the water to keep the apples from turning brown.

I then laid out the apples, each one overlapping the other one a bit.  Then I rolled them. I was AMAZED in the difference.

I then worked on how many apples to roll... how tight to make it... do I roll it in the cup or out...
These are things you should play around with yourself.

I discovered that if I rolled it a bit on the cutting board that I would get a nice start.  Then I added apples around the roll.

I also found that it helped to lay apple slices in the cup to make the apple even fuller.

I really enjoyed watching the rose unfurl as the tea was added.

I went with a light green iced tea to pair with the apple rose.
Try it out and see what you think.  It is super fun to play with teas like this.
