Homemade Lavender Syrup Recipe and some Scones from Scratch

For Mother's Day this year I made my mom a book of her tea party recipes.

I put in all the tea party food she makes, with the recipe and photos.  In the back I then left room to make notes and add more recipes.  I have been adding my tea recipes there...then I though, I should make a tea recipe book.

My goal is to make one new recipe a week until I get about 50 fun tea recipes.  Today I made lavender syrup.
I definitely think I need these typed out...I just scribbled out this recipe.

This is the first time I have made lavender syrup.  I just love lavender- the aroma, the flavor, the relaxation it brings.  I am growing lavender and last year I tried some to use in tea.  I also figured since it is a culinary lavender I would use it in this recipe.

This up coming weekend I am part of a Lavender Vendor Fest in Orrville at Lavender Trails.  Last year when I participated it was one of my best selling pop up events for me.  This year I am making two lavender teas.  I will make the best selling Purple Palmer- the Butterfly Pea Tea.  And now I will make a black tea with my lavender syrup.

I tripled the recipe-

3 C Water
3 C Cane Sugar
6 T Culinary Lavender

Bring lavender and water to a simmer
add sugar until dissolved
simmer gently for 10-15 minutes
cool and strain
bottle and enjoy
lasts 3-4 weeks

Lavender from my garden.

Super easy and quick to make!!  I am going to make this a lot more now that I know I can.

While making the lavender syrup I also made some scones.  These Scones from Scratch can be made in 30 minutes from start to finish.

All you need to add is whipping cream.  Then you mix and bake.  Each batch takes about 12-13 minutes.

Every batch of scones I have made from Scones from Scratch has been so delicious...and so so easy!

This batch made 15 scones.

Mooncat Boba Cafe- Lavender Milk Tea, Cleveland

My friend and I were in Cleveland for my Wednesday Wanderings.
We did Mexican (*see below) and then since we had time I used google to see if there were any tea places nearby that I wanted to visit.  I found Mooncat- and it was on my list to visit.

Yes, I have a list.  I have a list by towns/cities and the teas/cafes I want to try in those areas.

Mooncat is a cute little boba shop.  The staff were friendly and helpful.  They have walls with sticky notes...notes of encouragement to others, notes with cat designs, and notes of random thoughts.

I went with a plain Black Milk tea with lavender- no bubbles.

They have slushies, as well as some snacks.

Can you find my sticky note???

Here it is :)

Lavender Milk Tea

The tea was good.  I got the lavender notes.

Right beside the Mooncat is Bella Luna Bakery

I met Darren. He let my friend and I pick out a cookie to try.  And that way we would want to come back once we had a taste of what they make, lol.  And I have to say the cookie was delish and I would come back!

Their menu:

They were running low on bake goods, which to me means that the food is really good and everyone wants to shop here.

I left Cleveland happy and full.  Always good food to discover in Cleveland.

The peanut butter chocolate chip cookie was excellent.

*First we had a great lunch at El Palenque- Brooklyn.

I had the #4 Huevos Rancheros- Two Ranch Style Eggs (Over Easy) with Sauce On Top. Served with Mexican Rice, Refried Beans, and Tortillas with a side Chili Relleno.

Everything was excellent and our waiter was really helpful and friendly.  I would eat here again.
