Luigi Tambosi, oldest coffee shop in Munich

I learned on my HOP ON HOP OFF, double decker bus tour, that this was the oldest coffee shop in Munich!  So you know I had to have tea there!!!!

Odeonsplz. 18, City-Center
U3/6 Odeonsplatz
Tel. 089 298322

I ordered the Apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce for 4.80 Euros.  It was realy delicious

I ordeded a black tea, with milk.  Not sure what kind of tea I got, but it was black and tastey.  More impressive was the setting.  It was a beautiful day, the sun was out, the people were all around and it was like being in a movie.

Thumbs up for the afternoon snack!!

This is looking at where I sat.  There were more seats inside and also around back.

From the post on line, " Slightly posh, with cosy individual nooks and crannies filled with ornate and sumptuous armchairs, Tambosi is best enjoyed in winter, when there is snow on the ground and a chill in the air. The entrance is a bit forbidding as the door is shadowed by a heavy curtain, but that's fine because it keeps the tourists on the streets.

Inside, it's like the props from a Jane Austen film have been bought as a job lot and transplanted into this lovely old building to give it life. It works as a concept, but falls down a bit in practise, as it is a complete pain finding a seat usually. Waiters are overworked and few and far between, so make sure you order everything at once and the bill at the same time if you don't want to be hanging around for an extra 20 minutes to pay. The ground floor has a crushingly small bar area to the left. In the off-season, you will be watching trustafarians and a traditional, conservative crowd of young fogies"

this is the view from my table.  It was wonderful- felt like I was just another "European" enjoying the outdoor cafe.
