My friend sent me this post, from The Fern.
They were burning cinnamon. We both wondered why and if it smelled good.
I had the chai, but sadly was out of large cinnamon sticks. I headed the local grocery and picked up some cinnamon sticks.
Since the post was from Kurdistan, I thought maybe it was the Ceylon Cinnamon, but I could tell from the photo it was the regular cinnamon we have here.
I made some chai tea and then proceeded to burn a cinnamon stick and lay it along side the cup.
I was all prepared for the great cinnamon notes to waft throughout my kitchen and home.
But, nope, it really did not smell good.
It was smokey and there was nothing nice about the aroma. They say it is good to keep mosquitos and other bugs away, but I would not waste my cinnamon sticks to burn them.
I guess you never know until you try it for yourself.
The chai tea was good and we will leave it at that.
If you try it, let me know what you think.
