Red Rose Iced Tea

Back to basics on this one.

This one is a tribute to my Aunt Joyce who loved her Red Rose tea.

I am not a fan, but she loved it.  She had a cup every evening.  In honor of her, I am showing you how to make iced tea with her favorite, Red Rose.

8 tea bags or 8 t loose leaf

1 gallon water

optional- 1/4 C sugar

 Making the tea:

Place 8 tea bags or loose leaf tea (in a tea ball) in a gallon container, pour enough hot water (over 200 degrees) to cover the tea and for the tea leaves to move around. Let it steep for 10 minutes (you are basically making a concentrate).  After 10 minutes you pull out the tea, add the sugar, and then fill the remaining pitcher with cold water. It is one of the easiest things to make…and only takes 10 minutes no matter the type of tea.  Just check the water temperature, but the steep time is always 10 minutes.

 Put in the refrigerator to get cold and drink later or drink now with ice.

I received Aunt Joyce's blue cup after she passed.  Then I found a pink one at a thrift shop to go with it.  I love them together!!

I am now on the look out for others to go with this one.  It's unique and fun.  And you bet I will use it.  Tea cups are meant to be used and not just stored in a cupboard to be viewed.  Get them out and use them.  Think about where you bought them or the people who gave them to you.

I've heard my dad say he wished the dishes could talk.  He did buy one dish that had a photo in it and I believe a piece of paper to say where it was from.  I love that.  I want to put notes inside all my teacups to say where I got them and when.

Lavender Blueberry Earl Grey Syrup

 This is a great syrup that I am really enjoying to add to black iced tea right now. 

    

2 C water

1 1/2 C sugar

2 C blueberries

4 T lavender

8 t loose leaf Earl Grey tea

 Simmer everything but the tea for 15 minutes.

Take the pan off the stove, add tea and steep for 5 minutes.

Strain and store in the refrigerator.

Keyif Dogadan Turkish Apple Tea

My friend was selling some Turkish items.  I was so excited to buy some items from her.

A few years ago I bought a tea pot and a tea table she had donated to an auction. 

She was selling Turkish tea, beet sugar, tea cups, and some other items made in Turkey.

This was my haul!!   I purchased some tea, beet sugar, a cup, a bowl, and a grinder for spices.

I will be keeping some of this tea and sharing some.

I decided to make some apple tea.  I have to say it was really good.  I was not expecting the flavors and apple notes.  I know that Turkey is known for their apple teas and I can see why.

Beet sugar adds a nice sweetness.

Ohio Tea Festival

 

                                            

I was really excited to help out at the first ever Ohio Tea Festival.

                                                

I had this special shirt made for the event.  I wanted my faith to be shown at the event,  I have decided it is one thing I can do be more "vocal" about my beliefs.  And this is my verse this year.  God has given me this gift and I want to use it for Him.  I want it to glorify Him!

The agenda...

I was given a free shirt, but I decided to wear my own shirt.

 

I volunteered at the front table to help take money and give out the swag.

For $25 people attending received a free tasting cup, a bag, and some received tea too. A really nice deal!

There were maybe 15-20 vendors, which isn't bad for the first year.  It would be great if that could be doubled next year.  

After the show I went to a tea shop in Columbus and they said they wish they had heard of it, they would have loved to come.  I shared the info, so I hope they will be there next year!

 

 

I loved seeing Natural Hope Herbals!!  I met Perry a few years ago at event.  I love what they make and their openness about their faith.  I was thrilled to see they used me as marketing on their table!!  I love it!!!  Their moringa mint is incredible!

And of course one of my all time favorite tea companies- OHIO TEA!  They were there with great tea and samples.

A nice variety of vendors were represented here. A lot of tea, but also a honey table, some pottery, some fun foods, a table with fun tea shirts. etc.

Isn't this ladies had adorable??  She also had a teapot shaped purse!  She was ready for the event.

These cookies were really delicious!

There were a few things I questioned about the day, but one of the things I really enjoyed was all the free tea samples.  It was great to try all the teas!

There were tables outside too.

They had a tent outside for classes.  Which people seemed to enjoy.

I didn't buy this shirt, but I loved it!!

More tea to try!!  There were hot teas, iced teas that were free.  They were also selling mixed drinks.

I purchased lunch there. It was okay.

  I heard many people say they REALLY enjoyed the day, so you should try to make it next year!!!
