American Classic Rockville Raspberry Loose Tea

I liked this tea.  I thought it was very good.  I might have like a little stronger raspberry flavor, but it was still VERY nice.  It was great,

The Charleston Tea Plantation is located on historic Wadmalaw Island in the heart of the Lowcountry of South Carolina. The history of the Island dates back to mid-June of 1666 when it is believed that Captain Robert Sanford and the crew of the Berkeley Bay landed on the shores of what is now known as Rockville, South Carolina. On June 23, 1666, he and his crew claimed the land for England and the Lords Proprietors. Today, Wadmalaw is Oak Archway with Borderconsidered to be one of Charleston's most unspoiled islands. It is approximately 10 miles long and 6 miles wide. The Island's only connection to the mainland is a bridge that crosses over Church Creek

Home to The Charleston Tea Plantation, Wadmalaw provides the perfect environment for propagating tea. With its sandy soils, sub-tropical climate and average rainfall of 52 inches per year, Wadmalaw possess idyllic conditions for the Camellia Sinensis plant. This plant is currently used to produce both black and green teas and exists in over 320 varieties on the 127 acre grounds of the Charleston Tea Plantation.Top of Tea Field with Border
The Plantation sits right off Maybank Highway. Driving down Maybank is like taking a step back in time. Wadmalaw has not and cannot be commercially developed, therefore much of the land remains untouched. The Island is also home to other unique and historic attractions such as Irvin-House Vineyards, the only domestic winery in Charleston, South Carolina as well as the Angel Oak, a Live Oak tree that is believed to be over 1,500 years old.
Open 7 days a week, with the exception of a few holidays, the Charleston Tea Plantation is the perfect place to take a day trip. Bring the family, pack a lunch and enjoy the beauty of the tea fields. The experience is not only educational but more importantly one-of-a-kind. You will learn first-hand how tea is made during an informative Factory Tour. You can also take an enjoyable Trolley Ride through the tea fields, shop our unique Plantation Gift Shop and help yourself to all of the iced American Classic Tea you can drink.

TWININGS- Spiced Apple Chai

Ingredients: Black Tea, Natural Apple, Chai, Cinnamon & Ginger Flavors with Other Natural Flavors, Cardamom, Clove

I like to use my Teavana tea maker, even with tea bags.  I put my tea bag in the tea maker, set my timer, and wait.....

I really liked this tea.  I even shared it with my mom and my sister.  I had two wonderful cups out of one bag.  I added milk which made it even better!!

TWININGS dates back to 1706!!!!

Twinings1
Founder Thomas Twining began one of the first companies to introduce tea drinking to the English. After setting up shop on the strand in London called Tom’s Coffee House, he began selling his tea. This gave him a competitive edge on his coffee house rivals, of whom there were many, and the company never looked back. Only bought by the very wealthy, his Gunpowder Green Tea was selling for a price that is equivalent to $260US per 100g today. Interestingly, the original premises are still in existence today.

Home grown Ice Tea....

I love when I am able to use my own garden to make ice tea!!!  I grab the ice tea maker lid and fill it up with "goodies" from the garden.  I first start out with a little lavender.  Not a lot, because it tends to be strong.  If I don't add lavender then I add my lemon balm, but I tend to not add them to the same tea, I don't like when those flavors compete with each other.

I then head over and get some mint...love my mint!

my peppermint is not doing to well, so I don't add much of that....bummer!

I go back and get more spearmint to add.  I fill up the lid and then I come inside and thoroughly wash it.  I don't add soap, but I make sure it gets cleaned of any
 dirt or bugs.

I then fill the tea pitcher up to the line that says water.  I plug in the tea machine.  I then pour that water into the top of the maker.  http://www.mrcoffee.com/  I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Mr. Coffee 2 qt. ice tea maker.

I fill the tea pitcher up with ice, to the line that says ice.  I am a little short on ice, so I just add more water. *NOTE- I do not add sugar to my tea, but if I did, this would be the time I did.  So when the hot water drains down it helps "melt" the sugar.  I then line up the lid of the tea pitcher with the spout of the tea maker and hit the on button.

The tea then filters into the pitcher.  It only takes about 2-3 minutes for this process.
Once the tea is down brewing, I still let the water water sit in the lid for another 5 minutes or so to get more of the steeping done.

I then push up this button and it lets the tea that was in the lid drain down to the rest of the tea.  I do not add sugar to my tea.  I then pour that tea into another pitcher and make another pot of tea.

I am out of ice cubes, so I just add water to the pitcher. And I repeat the process.  I think it is just as good the second time.  I may let the tea leaves steep for a little longer, but I don't change anything else.

ANOTHER OPTION:

You can also make tea make tea with a mixture of fresh leaves and Lipton Ice Tea  http://www.liptontea.com/      or any other tea bags.  I don't like the tea bag nearly as well, I like the light fresh taste of the just picked leaves.

Also, if you want a little flavor in your straight tea, you can buy syrups for them.  http://shop.torani.com/    I got this at Buelhers for $6.00.  http://www.buehlers.com/     I like this in the regular tea where I don't add sugar and it does not have the lavender or the lemon balm in it.

TEALIGHT TEA TASTING- Coconut Banana Colada, Vanilla Carmel Chai, and Carrot Cake Rooibos

We did a little Tealightful Tea tasting at work today.  It cracks me up how everybody has different taste buds.  Melanie and I love the same type of foods- but I found today we differ with our flavor in teas.  I knew that Dawn and I differed in our tea tastes, but I surprised Melanie and I differed so much.

Our first sample today was Coconut Banana Colada. I was not a fan of the banana taste, but Melanie really liked it.  I did like the aroma if that counts :)

******************************************************************************

Next we tried Vanilla Carmel Chai.  Now this one we both liked.  This one was my favorite tea we tested today.

Vanilla Carmel Chai is $18.50 for 4 oz.  You are able to get at least two cups out of each serving.

********************************************************************************

Our third tea was one I was really looking forward to trying...Carrot Cake Rooibos.  This was my LEAST favorite and it was Melanie's MOST favorite.

Carrot Cake Rooibos is $12.50 for 4 oz.  You can get at least two cups per one serving of tea

I then took it down to the other end of the building to get their thoughts.  Jared said he liked it. but he did not think the name "Carrot Cake" fit for the name.  Judy added sugar and said it was okay, she said it was a little better with sugar.  Dawn said it was ok too.

Ah, the fun we have trying all these teas at work!!!

TEALIGHTFUL- Hawaiian Mist Ice Tea
For $9.00 you get 2,  1oz pouches to make 2 gallons of tea.  The tea is natural with no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial colors or flavors.
I actually made 2 gallons of tea out of 1, 1oz pouch of tea.  So, really you can get 4 gallons of teas for $9.00

I thought I would use my new loose leaf ice tea maker from Tealightful today!  I made Hawaiian Mist for the office.  I put the loose leaf bag in the filter, added hot water and let it steep for 4 minutes.  It was not quite strong enough, I figured because the water was not boiling like the recommend, so I let it steep another 3 minutes.

I then poured the tea concentrate into a gallon pitcher and added the rest of the water.

I left the tea in the kitchen for my co-workers try it.  I got a mixed review.  I had one guy who really liked it, another who said it just tasted like flavored water.  Two girls added sugar and said it was okay.  Another said she liked it.  I think that we all thought that it needed more flavor, so I would let it steep even longer.  I did like the hibiscus flavor.
