Quintealias afternoon tea in Burton

If you follow me, you know I have my Wednesdays off and I love to go Wandering.  I also have a friend who is a teacher and in the summer she likes to join me once a month for one of those #WednesdayWanderings trip.  This day we found our selves in Burton, Ohio.  This one is an hour and half away for us, but for a special treat it is worth it.

 14585 E Park St, Burton, OH 44021

In 2021 Tea Time magazine did an article about Northern Ohio Tea Treasures.  I have made it to a few of them, but this one was still on my list to visit.

Burton is in Geauga County in Ohio.

When you come into Burton there is a really large, beautiful square in the middle, aligned on the outer edge by houses and businesses.  Quintealias's is one of those businesses.

This beautiful Victorian was built in the 1800's- per the historical Century Home plaque on the exterior wall of the porch.

This house is enormous.  Off the porch on the right is the Art Gallery that is open to purchase local hand made items.
To the left there are some outdoor seating areas.

As you enter the home you are greeted by gorgeous tea room.  Each room is decorated so lovely.  It was so much fun to walk around.

I did the Queen Elizabeth Tea Service.

I was going to do the Savory Sampler for $22.95, but I figured until I added a pot of tea for $5.00 and a scone I may be close to the Queen Elizabeth Tea price.   But, next time I am doing the Savory Sampler that comes with the soup and skipping the sweet treats at the end.

I did the Oolong- Iron Goddess of Mercy pot of tea

And look, there was even royalty here.

My friend and I were seated in this adorable window seat area.

Clever to use for sugar cubes

At our place setting the sugar cups appeared to be a mini gold tea pot.

As you can see I have a tea baller at my table.  I had to ask for it though.
I usually carry a tea baller in my purse, but I must have taken it out to wash from my last outing.  I was so excited that they had one!  She only had one, so my friend had to do with out.
I know that the British put the tea in the pot and then strain it as you serve it.

That is okay if you would use the entire pot at one time or your have a one serving teapot.  However, if you are serving one person and the tea leaves sit in the pot for more than 5 minutes your tea will over steep and only your first cup of tea will be good.
They say put the leaves directly in the teapot the leaves can expand and move around and you can get a more uniform flavor as the tea leaves release their oils.  Well I say buy a bigger tea ball to let the leaves move around in it.  I am NOT of the belief that you should ever put your tea leaves in a teapot and let it to continually steep....unless you have a one serving teapot or you serve everyone at one time.  But, still the last person served will have a stronger and possibly bitter cup of tea.

I had a fun Sadler tea pot from England.

The water of the day was Watermelon infused.  It was a fun surprise and very delightful.

Ohhh laaalaaa!  The food looked so incredible!!!

TOP TIER:

Traditional English scone- plain
homemade clotted cream
homemade jam

SECOND TIER:

Basil, Balsamic vinegar, mozzarella, tomato and olive on homemade French bread,
Creamy Egg Salad served on cocktail bread
Cucumber and dill with cream cheese

BOTTOM TIER:

Cookie dough chocolate truffle
Strawberry mousse
London Fog Bundt cake
Toffee shortbread
Fruit

You eat with your eyes first and I have to say my eyes were wowed at the detail of these sandwiches.
I adore the lady bugs on the Caprese sandwich!

Homemade clotted cream.

Homemade jam...and it looked so fun in this sherry glass.  What a clever use of an antique.

My favorite dessert was the strawberry mousse.  It was light an airy and oh so creamy.  I could have just ate a bowl of that.

I was a bit disappointed in the shortbread- I think it was over worked and it was a bit hard.
And sadly I missed the London Fog flavor in the Bundt cake.  The cake was still very very good, I just wish I didn't know it was to be a London Fog cake- I was looking for those bergamot and Earl Grey flavors that you'd expect in a London Fog.
And the cookie dough truffle was sadly a miss for me too.
But, you can't please everyone...and everything else was spot on scrumptious!

Yes, they gave me a tiara to wear, lol.  When the table next to us came and the waitress found out they were celebrating their birthdays, she asked if they wanted to wear tiara's.  They said, but I said, I would.  So, she brought me one to wear for the remainder of my meal.

I bought two scones to go.  They were a lemon blueberry lavender.  My mistake for not asking how much they were.
When I got my bill I saw that the 2 scones were $17.95!  I almost fell off my chair.  I have never paid $8.95 for a scone in my life.  They were good, but I think I would have passed on them, lol.  Live and learn, but I did enjoy eating them for sure!

If you go upstairs there is a very nice gift shop.  You can shop in 4 or 5 rooms and even purchase some of the tea they use in the tea room.

The rooms are filled with lots of tea inspired items like: teapots, tea cups and saucers, jewelry, and many other fun items.

The tea that is served downstairs.

If you go outside, there is an art gallery of items for sale that local artisans have made.

This pottery piece looks like a doily was laid on it to dry.  It was pretty and delicate looking.

Lots of colorful stained glass items too.

My favorite of course was the stained glass tea pot.

What a delightful time we had in Burton at Quintealia's Tea Room.  Everything was done really well.
If you are in the area I would highly recommend this place.

Hands down this place gets 5 tea cups out of 5!!  The staff was super friendly and helpful and attentive to our needs. The tea room was clean and bright. The food was really well done.  I enjoyed my pot of oolong tea and that they were able to find me a tea baller, lol.  Just a wonderful, quiet, and relaxing place for tea.

10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
