Winter Warmers

I was in Penang doing mission work and I stayed an extra week so that I could see a college friend and explore Penang.

I googled tea places before I left the US.  I wanted to find some great places to visit during my down time.  This was on this list to visit.

I decided to have Afternoon Tea at Winter Warmers Tea house.
I wanted the whole meal- but they only did the Afternoon Tea for 2.  So, I ordered the tea...for 2.  And ate it all!

My first pot of tea was Jasmine Blossom.  It was really great.

I wanted to get all the great shots before I ate anything.....

Savory croissant, sandwich, pie and quiche Rose Scone with jam and cream, a slice of cake, refreshing cocktail, fruit puff, herb cookie, and mouse with 2 pots of tea!

Yes, this was lunch for two, and I ate it all myself.  The prices in Penang are great.  This Tea for two was $75 RM....which was less then $20.

fruit puffs and fruit cocktail

How beautiful do these treats look??

middle layer- Chocolate cake, mousse, jam and scones

fruit puff

clotted cream, egg salad sandwich, pot pie, ham sandwich, pot pie, and croissant

The savory items were my favorite.

Croissant and pot pie

I did enjoy the rose scone and cream.

My second pot of tea was lavender, it was delicious too.  I did have to take a potty break during my 2 pots of teas.
In Penang there are not a lot of bathrooms available.  There were no restrooms in this restaurant, so I had to go outside and back into the adjoining mall and into their basement to find a place to go.  I have to remember to bring my own toilet paper too, lol.

This fruit cocktail was not my favorite.  I did not even finish it.  It was too sweet for me.

The tea cups make the tea look heart shaped- how cute is that.

It is so hot!!!  It was really nice being in the AC for tea.  But, then when I stepped outside, I feel the sauna weather kick back in!

I purchased some raspberry tea to take home for myself.

Penang is beautiful!  I will miss it, except for the heat!

Allegheny Coffee and Tea - Sassafras tea

Chinese black tea scented with sassafras flavor and blended with fragrant calendula petals. Sassafras is where root beer comes from, but due to FDA regulations this tea does not contain actual sassafras.

Someone brought this tea into work, I decided to give it a shot.  It was not my thing.  It wasn't bland, but I didn't care for the flavors.  Maybe if I added milk it might have helped it.
This is just not for me.

Pelindaba Lavender, Mantiou Springs Colorado

While I was in Colorado I popped into this quaint shop and tried their lavender tea.

The organic lavender white peony tea was good, but not for me.  But, I am glad I tried it.  It was a little too flowery for me.

I love lavender and almost everything lavender!  This store smelled wonderful!!!  If you are in the area and you like lavender, you should stop in.  The had lots of fun things to see.

Numi bottled Jasmine Green

I was out for lunch and saw this tea.  It was really good. I am a huge fan of jasmine.  This tea was really refreshing and nice to know that this tea is organic, natural and no artificial flavorings.

This tea was great with my Reuben Sandwich.

UPDATE 9/13/2019

I just learned that Smuckers (that is in my hometown of Orrville, Ohio is the manufacturer of Numi tea!!)

My sister works for Smuckers, so she is the one who pointed it out to me.  I had no idea!!

Teavana Mint Majesty

A friend at work gave me this tea.  I was super excited to try this Teavana Tea.  I have been so sad when Teavana closed down. I was pleasantly surprised that there Teavana was bagging their great teas!! My friend went to Starbucks and bought all the boxed teas they had, being afraid that these would stop being sold.

I tried it cold brewed and I loved it!!!
I love mint and I love Teavana!!

Argo Tea, Hibiscus Apple

I was pleased to find Argo Tea at my local grocery store.  It was very tasty, but much to expensive to ever buy again.  Spending over $2 for a bottled tea is not worth it for me.  I did buy it when it was on sale.  I do enjoy Argo Tea, it has great flavors.

I have bought their loose leaf on line before and I have been very pleased.  I just don't find the bottled tea to be worth the price.

You can buy Hibiscus loose leaf tea on line for $13.95 and get about 27 servings.  You can't buy 4 bottles of tea for $13.95.  I say loose leaf is the way to go.

Townshend's Brew Dr- Superberry

I love Townshend tea!  I visited one of their shops in Portland OR.  I picked this up at my sisters in Vancouver WA.  We have yet to carry this brand locally.

I enjoyed this kombucha with my MOD pizza.  MOD is another Pacific Northwest thing.
In trying to avoid soda, this kombucha is a wonderful alternative, and only 60 calories for the entire bottle. The flavors are so good- some say kombucha is vingeary, but I don't notice it.  I love the flavor and is is so good for you too.

from the website,

"IT MAY HAVE HEALTH BENEFITS

The live, active cultures that form during fermentation may be microscopic, but they are the subject of massive debate. Proponents claim these live cultures have all kinds of health benefits, from healing the gut to smoothing the skin. Even the Cleveland Clinic believes fermented foods, such as kombucha, nourish the body with vitamins and enzymes which positively impact the gut biome."

I read on line that you can now get this bottled and in all 50 states, I will be looking for it in Ohio!

Ingredients: Brewed tea (filtered water, organic oolong tea, organic elderberry, organic currant, organic hibiscus, organic blueberry, organic goji berry, organic strawberry, organic raspberry), organic cane sugar, live kombucha culture (yeast, bacteria)

I also picked up these kombucha's  while I was visiting my sister.  I enjoyed them all, but Dr. Brew maybe my favorite!

I got the green tea, the herbal has rooibos in it, and I don't care for rooibos.

Green Tea: Green Tea, Raspberries, Lemon Peel, Raspberry Leaf, Rose Petals, Apple Pieces, Orange Peel, Calendula, Raspberry Essence, Love, Gratitude.

You can also buy this tea in herbal-Herbal Tea:  Rooibos Tea, Raspberries, Lemon Peel, Apple Pieces, Safflower Petals, Raspberry Essence, Love, Gratitude

This tea is the bomb!!! I made it cold brew and I think it is my new favorite cold brew tea. I took it to work and my co-workers loved it and said that they were going buy it.  I let my sister try it and she loved it too.

This tea does not taste like a green tea.  It doesn't have that earthy green flavor that some green teas have.  It is cool and refreshing. You get a great mix of raspberry and lemon not overpowering of either flavor.

I am now making it in bulk!!!!

Oregon Chai Concentrate

INGREDIENTS

Water, Organic Dried Cane Sugar Syrup, Organic Black Tea, Organic Vanilla Extract, Organic Spice Extracts, Organic Honey, Citric Acid, and Natural Flavors.

I made a giant cup of Oregon chai. I needed a pick me up.  I used to think I liked this Oregon Chai, but I am no longer a fan.  I like it as a powder, but not as concentrate.  I think it is too sweet for me.  I just would prefer something else.

I did enjoy the Reddi-whip though!!!

Kelly’s Cafe, Iced Chai, Brunswick Ohio

I spent the weekend at Beulah Beach and I decided to take a new way home and see what Tea places I could find on the way home.  It took all the way to Brunswick until I found something.

It's super cute inside.

I may want to come back and try the crepes! They had some really fun sounding crepes.  I love crepes with savory items inside.

There is a nice sitting area, and I loved this painting on the wall too.

It was hot day, so I enjoyed a nice Iced Chai.  It was great and super refreshing!!
