Sunshine Daydream Latte Iced, Woodstock Cafe, Vermilion

I was in Vermilion Ohio in May.   I love Vermilion, I lived here for a year when I worked at Beulah Beach as a guest service coordinator.  It is such a cute town.  When I lived there Woodstock was not there.  But, it is now and I love coming here for their fun teas.  The food is good too, a bit pricey, but good.

The place is adorable.  This is kind of the vibe I want in my place.  Eclectic and a bit vintage.  I also want the farmhouse with industrial feel too.  There are so many cool looks out there!!  And this is one of my favorite looks.

I asked for the coconut latte, and I got more of a chai latte with coconut syrup in it.  I was a bit disappointed and no one asked to re-do the drink.

I got the Grateful Grilled Cheese.  It was really good, a kind of treat, since I am trying to eat healthy.  I did avoid the chips, which helped me feel like I was doing okay.

ripe avocado, roasted red peppers, applewood smoked bacon, swiss, provolone, mozzarella, aged white cheddar, served on Seeded Grain Bread

Before I left I tried again to get the coconut latte that I have had in the past and loved.  I ordered the Sunshine Daydream Latte.

This still was not the drink I remembered, but it was very good.  I loved the coconut flavor and coconut flakes.

I give it a 4.  Last time I had the coconut latte it was a 5.  I need to try it again and see if it was just made by someone different.

I then headed to Beulah Beach for the annual benefit auction.  Friday night was the plant sale.  It was a windy but great night.

Goldberry Chai Latte and Golden Milk Latte, Ashland OH

It's the second annual girls outing to Goldberry in Ashland.   It's so fun to get together outside of work with these gals.  Our companies consultant has started Goldberry with his son.

The coffee and tea currently come from origins all over the world. Goldberry plans to source much of its coffee and tea components from the Sierra Norte de Puebla region of Mexico in the near future.  Goldberry works with the farmers there and their sister company, Coffee Growing Community. At least 10% of Goldberry's profits goes back to helping the Coffee Growing Community. This money helps provide spiritual. economical and social development in the Sierra Norte de Puebla communities.

They have these beautiful cookies!  I did not try them as I am trying to watch my weight, but they were tempting!

But, when it came to their new teas- I had to try them both.  I went with the hot chai and cold golden milk latte.

Us girls with Peter.

I love what they have done with their shop.  They have been here two years and are constantly adding cool new drinks and features.  Last year when we were here they just had the one large room, but now they have a new room off to the side.  The furniture in their is super fun, looks like it's all made from wooden pallets.

Everything is bright and clean.  The prices are good.  They also have free wi-fi.

I really enjoyed the hot chai.  The flavors are really good.  I had them add oat milk, which I think always adds a great depth of flavors.  The cardamon and spices are great in this chai.

The golden milk latte was really great too.  I am not sure which was my favorite.  The golden milk has the great turmeric notes.

Excellent drinks and price.

If you are in the area, I recommend you stop by here and meet the friendly staff and get a great drink.

They are right across from the blue water tank.

Cold Brew - Ohio Tea Company, Peace out Papaya

Cold brew is great- have you tried it yet?
I put in about 1 teaspoons per 8 oz of cold water, within 5-8 minutes I have cold brew tea.  It doesn't get bitter because the water is cold and you are not releasing any tanins. I can add water to the cup at least 2-3 more times throughout the day.  You can add ANY loose leaf tea to water for cold brew.

There are several ways you can cold brew- you can buy special containers or you can simply add a tea bag to your water! Easy Peasy!

What are the benefits of cold brew tea?  Cold brew tea is infused slowly over time to extract more goodness, producing a deliciously mild but flavorful taste with no hint of bitterness. And you can add water multiple times- you get a lot of bang for your buck.

Today I am making Cold Brew in bulk :)  But same rules apply, tea and cold water, steep and drink.

I love all the tea notes that come out.  It is super refreshing.  The Papaya comes out so well.

Here I am using the tea bag.  Same idea...tea in tea bag, cold water, steep, and drink.

Purple Butterfly Pea Tea made from Ohio Tea Company Teas!

This tea is super easy to make.  You make it like any other herbal tea.  And it turns out a beautiful blue color, you add citrus and you get a gorgeous purple color.

The first time I made this tea I took 8 teaspoons of the butterfly pea blossoms and put them with hot water and no sugar- since I was adding lemonade to it.   I let it steep for about 10 minutes.

The tea by itself does not have a ton of flavor.   So, I have now added lavender and mint to the tea and the flavor is wonderful.

$5.25 an ounce
There are at least 28 known species of Lavender - some of these are wild and some are commercially cultivated - the plant grows everywhere from parts of Africa to China.

$5. an ounce
The Butterfly pea flower is native to southeast Asia and makes for beautiful, purplish blue cup when brewed on its own.

$3.25 an ounce
A refreshing blend of green tea and mint, this tea suggests cool Mediterranean breezes along a hot afternoon desert. Made with tightly rolled gunpowder green tea to ensure briskness.

To make:

Add the 3 teas together and steep.  I have played around with adding less butterfly pea blossoms, because I really just need a little to get the color to change, it's not the flavor I am going for.   I add about 2-3 teaspoons of butterfly pea.

I also don't want the lavender to overtake, so I only put in about 3 teaspoons of lavender per pitcher.

I then add the mint.  I put in 8 teaspoons of mint.

I add boiler water and let steep for 10 minutes.

then a add cold water and I have my base.

Then I mix with lemonade or limeade.

It then goes from blue to purple.

I even stopped by Ohio Tea Company and shared a cuppa with the owners and their staff one day.  It was not my best butterfly tea, so that was a disappointment, but it was fun to share the tea with them and talk about tea.

I also make small batches too.

Just add your lemonade or limeade,

August Uncommon, Know by Heart

When I make tea in the french press, I put the tea above the press so that I can lift the press when the tea is done steeping, that way I don't over steep it.  Or I put the loose leaf tea a tea bag to steep.

INGREDIENTS: chinese pai mu tan white tea, bulgarian rosehip seed, turkish apple, carob, barley malt, almond, honey, orange blossom, natural flavoring

I purchased 4 Cup samples for $2.99.  It is a great way to try the teas.  I have to say this place has the most unique kinds of tea- you have to check out the website!  Teas like-teas with tobacco, teas with chocolate and chili, teas with smoked banana, and so many more.

This is a white tea, so you don't want to boil the water or it will bruise the leaves.  I like to steep my tea for three minutes, that way I can get two cups of tea out of one serving. This is a light delicate tea.  I enjoyed the notes of orange.

I give the tea 4 out of 5 stars.  I like the flavors of this tea.  The fruity notes and a bit of almond.
