Charles Viancin Straws

I found these straws on sale, so I thought I would try them.  The interesting thing about these straws is that they come with a lid too.

To make this work you put one of the silicone straw on the plastic straw then you slide the lid on the plastic straw and then the other end of the silicone straw.

you can make this straw from 7" to 11"

I see the idea of this with the built in lid, but it is not so easy to drink from.  The straw wobbles a bit and it makes the lid come away from the cup. The straw works best when the straw touches the bottom of the cup.  So to work best with this 7" straw, this works best in small cup.   You can slide the silicone straw down the plastic straw and make it longer,, up to 11", but it is not super stable that way.

The lid with the best seal is the green one, but it still is not a tight seal.

I would not give a kid this cup and think that the liquid will stay in the cup.

The other option is to put another plastic straw with the silicone lid. This straw touches the bottom of the cup and can still move around a bit.  But, the lid does move a bit.  The seal on the lid is not tight.
