Teacup sweater ornaments

My friend has a TEA ministry in France.  So, when I went to see her I took her these little ornaments that I made to use some how in the ministry.

They are super easy to make.  I cut a sweater template out on paper, then cut old wool sweaters or felt to make the sweater.  I take a paperclip and fold it into the hanger.  I then take other felt and make the tea cup and thread is the string for the tea bag.

These two are wool sweaters that I "felted".  Felting a sweater is easy.  You wash it in super hot water and then put it in the dryer.  You can then cut it and it won't unravel.

These sweaters are made from felt- they are a lot thinner.

Here they are- all complete!  I just love them!!!!

I need to re-center the coat hanger on this one- hahahaha

STASH, Breakfast in Paris

This container may say "cool gear", but it is full of hot tea!  I tried Stash's Breakfast in Paris tea.  It was great!!!!  It's a black tea with lavender and vanilla in it.  It is even better with milk

  • Ingredients (loose): blended black teas, lavender, bergamot extract, vanilla extract, natural hazelnut flavor
  • Ingredients (tea bag): blended black teas, lavender, bergamot extract, vanilla extract
  • Steeping Instructions: 3-5 minutes at 190-209 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Caffeinated: Yes

  • From the website- Bring a touch of Paris to your morning with our Parisian-inspired blend. Aromatic and floral, lavender is the perfect complement to the citrus bergamot oil and full-bodied black tea. This tea is well-rounded and would pair perfectly with your favorite pastry or baguette.

Heartland Point Pickwick Raspberry Iced tea

I ordered an energy infusia raspberry iced tea the other day from Heartland.  It was too strong and too sweet.  I had them add some of the black tea to it and that helped a lot.  Next time I have a tea there I will be prepared to order a 1/2 and 1/2.

All tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant. How the leaves of the plant are processed and their level of contact with oxygen determines the type of tea. The more processing the leaves go through, the darker the leaves become, resulting in a distinctive color and taste characteristic. There are four main varietals of tea: black, green, white, and oolong. Tea contains substances called flavonoids, which are powerful antioxidant polyphenols. Antioxidant polyphenols help protect the body's cells from damage due to harmful molecules called free radicals.  Regardless of the processing method, black, green, white and oolong teas all contain polyphenols. In fact, tea ranks as high as or higher than many fruits and vegetables in the ORAC score, a score that measures antioxidant potential of plant-based foods
White tea is considered the purest of all teas. Plucked only a few days each spring when the Camellia sinensisplants are reemerging from winter dormancy, it is revered by tea connoisseurs for its delicate, fresh flavor.
Our white tea is one of the most highly-prized teas available, comprised of carefully plucked unopened buds and the younger leaves of the plant. The leaves arenaturally dried in the sun before they are lightly processed to prevent oxidation, keeping  the leaves closer to their natural state, low in caffeine and high in antioxidants.

This is a fun tea.  I like the taste.  You have to be sure not to over steep it or it can be a bit tart.  Once brewed/steeped correctly, I think you will really enjoy this tea.

Making mint tea in France with Mint Brook Meadows Tea

Here I am in FRANCE!  I am on a mission trip- I am staying with a couple I have never met before.  But this lady soon becomes a kindred spirit!  We both love tea.  She has some frozen mint and frozen Lemon Verbena - and I brought some Mint Brook Meadows Tea from Dalton, Ohio.  So, we made my mom's tea recipe.

    Sun Tea/Ditch Tea
3/4 of a gallon of water.
Mom told me that she learned- if you take the leaf off the stem it will make the tea less bitter.  So, I took the leaves off the stems.
Once the water was boiling, we added the tea leaves, and I added 3 bags of Mint Brook Tea
Add lid and let it steep for 15-20 minutes
Mom then poured it into a pitcher, she uses a strainer to catch the tea bags and leaves
Mom then adds about 2/3 cups sugar

To this recipe I doubled it and I did 3 bags of Spearmint Mint Brook and 3 bags of Peppermint and then we also added Lemon Verbena

I drank it warm and boy was it good!!!  I enjoyed it the next few days too.  Fun to be in France and have reminders of home :)

    Trader Joes Coconut Green Tea

For the last couple of years my sister, Jill, and I spend my birthday together.  We usually end up going to Trader Joe's by the end of the day.   Trader Joe's is about an hour away for us and a real treat to visit.  I was excited this year to try their coconut green tea.  I have been a fan of it from other places.

The look and smell were very nice.

    http://steepster.com/teas/trader-joes/47608-coconut-green-tea

After steeping the tea for 2-3 minutes I let is pour into my moose mug.

Well, that is were the niceness for me ends.  The taste really fell flat for me.  I have had much better coconut green teas before. I did read somewhere that one person uses the tea as a broth for an Asian soup.  So, I think this tea will get the boot.  I like the can, so I will keep that for sure.  You win some, you loose some- this was a fail.

Lou Lan Cha bubble Tea in Munich Germany 2014

I can't believe I forgot to post this Bubble Tea adventure I had in Germany last fall!!!!  One of the last days at my cousins, I decided to google map the nearest bubble tea shop.  I found one was really close!!!  I hopped on my cousins bike and I was off to find the shop.

I don't remember this ride took more than 20 minutes, it was quick and fun!!!!

I found it fairly easily, I think I only had to turn around once- and that was because I was having trouble reading the numbers on the buildings.

I was sooo excited to have found this place on my own!  It was probably a good thing I did not find it until one of my last days there.  The tea was great- I remember thinking I should get another and put it in my bike basket for the place ride home, but then I remembered I could not take it on the plane!!!  (although, I could not tell you now- six months later what I ordered)

I'm a little sweaty, but I made it!  The tea was refreshing!!!

It was a tiny little place, that is why I almost missed it. But, for what they are selling, they do not need a big shop.

On my way home I found the queen!!!  How lucky did I get???
